2 Floor rear extension, Chestnut Avenue, Tunbridge Wells, Kent

  2nd story extension rear and front extension to a 1930s house in Southborough

This project consisted of extending the ground and first floors of this 1930’s house in Southborough, Tunbridge wells, Kent to form a new Kitchen and family space on the ground floor with new extended bedrooms and 2 new bathrooms above. 

The roof was extended over the new parts of the property to connect seamlessly with the existing roof slopes.  The complete roof was re-tiled with second hand tiles to match the existing. 
The existing property was then completely renovated from top to bottom all the way through and included a power showers and new bathrooms.

A new state of the art heating system with under floor heating to the ground floor was installed to manage the properties heat and hot water requirements.
New sliding folding doors to the new family space provides an airy open feel to this room and  can be opened back to create a large open plan ground floor for entertaining. 

The bathrooms where finished with natural stone products to give a timeless feel of quality in slate and stone. 

This Southborough house has benefited from the installation of a new oak stair case polished to match the floors in the new open hall way with a new oak front door to finish of this look of contempary living .

The feature Juliet balcony between the 2 gables on the rear provides a wash of light to the new master bed room and from the inside gives a breath taking view of the garden and St Johns’ church in the distance. 

This Southborough project was a pleasure and a challenge to be involved in with Lesters Building Contractors and the client working closely together to provide a wonderful family home with a modern family open plan living without losing its 1930s charm and ambiance.
